OUR SCHOOL

Matamata Primary School is set in mature, well kept grounds with extensive playing fields and educational facilities. Learning is our core business. At Matamata Primary School we are committed to providing quality child centered programmes that both challenge and support students. We have designed a broad and balanced education programme that caters for the academic, physical, social, and cultural needs of each student.

 


 

In addition to the core programmes Matamata Primary School offers a range of other specialist modules which are implemented by specialist teachers and supported by teacher aides and volunteers including:

  • Early Intervention Programmes – Reading Recovery, Literacy support groups, Numeracy boost.
  • Representative Sports tournaments for Hockey, Netball, Rugby, Football, Swimming, Cross-country and Athletics.
  • Performing Arts – School band, Choir, Annual School Production.
  • Optional After School Classes – After School Guitar and After School Art,
  • Other Learning Opportunities – Art Exhibition, Kapahaka, Community group performances.

Our guiding principles centre on our motto 'Endeavour, Achieve, Excel - Tohenga, Taea, Tino Hira through the following elements: Inclusion of All, High Expectations for Success, Effective Teaching Practice, Quality Resourcing and the Community and Whanau Engagement.

SCHOOL CHARTER

The needs of the children and their learning shall be the focus of this charter. By following the guiding principles of the charter, the Board of Trustees will ensure that all students are given an education which embraces their learning and self-esteem, builds on their strengths and respects their dignity. This will be achieved through a partnership between the school, its community and the Minister of Education under the provisions of the Education Act. The Board of Trustees will take all reasonable steps to ensure the school meets the goals and objectives of this charter.
