Matamata Primary School is located in the heart of the Waikato, a town overlooked by the Kaimai Ranges and surrounded by rivers that flow through rolling green hills. Here we have created a nurturing environment that enables our children to learn and prosper across all aspects of education and development. Our guiding principles centre on our motto ‘Endeavour, Achieve Excel – Tohenga, Taea, Tino Hira. Together with support of our community and engagement of whanau, we deliver a platform that inspires learning to help build and shape our future generations.

All Year 5 and 6 students attending Camp tomorrow need to meet on the Turf no later than 8:30am tomorrow with all of their gear.
We have a shortage of Year 4 netballers registered to play for the school. If you would like your child to play, please email Mary Muckle by the end of Friday; mmuckle@mmps.school.nz
Just a reminder that TOMORROW is our swimming sports for our Year 3-6 students. Information went out for this previously but please see attached the programme for the day along with some other important information.
Our PTA will be selling lolly bags, Juicies and Just Juice Bubbles, please see attached photo for prices.
Our School Leaders will be collecting cash donations from spectators tomorrow for Swim4TheOcean, a NZ swimmer raising awareness around our oceans and bottom trawling, currently swimming the length of NZ. See previous post on Friday for more information.
There will be a parents relay team so feel free to bring your togs down tomorrow if you are coming to watch and feel like entering the adults team at the end of the day.
Your child needs to come to school tomorrow with their togs, towel, goggles, a sunhat and sunblock, morning tea, lunch and a water bottle. It is important they come to school wearing sunblock already, it is going to be a warm day and it does get very hot on the hill.
We look forward to seeing all of our swimmers give their very best tomorrow!

SWIM4THEOCEAN - Jono Ridler donations welcome
Currently Jono Ridler is attempting to create a world record, swimming from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the North Island. His live swimming tracking shows him currently coming around Mahia Point, having started at the North Cape, heading for Wellington.
"One man attempting to swim the entire east coast of the North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. To ignite New Zealanders around the race for a healthy ocean and a clear call to end bottom trawling."
Some of our Senior classes have been tracking his swimming progress each day and reading about his previous record breaking swims. Jono is doing this to bring awareness to the state of our oceans and in particular bringing a stop to bottom trawling around our waters in New Zealand.
You can get behind this epic feat by bringing along cash donations to our MPS Swimming Sports on Monday and our School Leaders will be coming around with a bucket to collect any donations for Swim4TheOcean to protect our oceans.
Alternatively, you can sign the petition on the website below to put an end to bottom trawling.
You can track Jono's progress here as well find our more about his mission.
How inspiring for our MPS students!
Treats being sold by our PTA at Swimming Sports Day on Monday, see attached photo for prices.
