On Wednesday the 29th of August Greenpark School from Tauranga travelled to Matamata Primary School to take part in an annual sports exchange.
On this day the children played a range of sports including Hockey, Rugby, Netball and Football. The weather turned out to be amazing with the sun beaming and not a cloud in the sky.
The children were really pumped and excited, especially the children that came from the classrooms to support their school. While watching all sports everyone was cheering for both teams which was pretty cool and our students were demonstrating the School Values – Having a Heart, Stand Proud, Being a Thinker and Own Your Actions.
The results for the day were as follows:
Hockey
Year 3 & 4 – lost
Year 5 & 6 – lost
Rugby
Year 3 & 4 – won
Year 5 & 6- won
Netball
Year 3 & 4 – lost
Year 5 & 6 – won
Football
Year 3 & 4 – lost
Year 5 & 6 – lost
All children who played in the Sports Exchange found the games to be very fair and each player demonstrated sportsmanship and fair play.
At the end Mr Mac announced that Mr Scholes and Greenpark School would be providing a trophy for the exchange for the winners. In 2018 overall MPS drew with Greenpark but this year Greenpark School were the overall winners of the exchange. MPS are rearing to become overall champions in 2020.
